The gallery

about-img

Located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris, Galerie Romain Morandi offers a transversal perspective on modern and contemporary furniture. From the emergence of design at the end of the 19th century to the present day, the gallery explores the aesthetic continuities and ruptures that have shaped creative practices. Its curatorial approach is rooted in a close attention to contexts of production, modes of reception, and the networks through which objects circulate and gain legitimacy. The gallery embraces an expanded definition of design, encompassing the decorative arts, transdisciplinary practices, and experimental forms at the intersection of art and function.

The gallery’s program is structured around a cycle of monographic exhibitions (Jasper Morrison, Early Works), thematic shows (Breaking the Wall: German Avant-Garde Design at the Fall of the Berlin Wall), dialogic pairings (Josef Hoffmann / Ettore Sottsass: Sécessions), and typological explorations (Débordements: 40 Vases by Artists and Designers). Each piece selected is the result of thorough documentation, critical analysis, and connections to public collections.

Galerie Romain Morandi advises private collectors and public institutions in the building, expansion, and enhancement of their collections. It also provides consulting services for interior design and architectural projects, in collaboration with design and decoration studios.

The gallery takes part annually in PAD Paris, where it was awarded the Contemporary Design Prize in 2025.
