Designed from steel sheets cut with a blowtorch using industrial techniques employed in the manufacture of submarines or safes, the “Flame Cut” armchair is part of a limited series of furniture created specifically for Sudeley Castle in the United Kingdom, which dates back to the 14th century. Seven centuries of conflicts between warring factions have taken place on these lands, leaving no trace of the furniture from previous generations. This location provided a valuable historical setting for Tom Dixon’s pieces, designed to be “durable enough for the next 1,000 years.”
